Mark A. Aitken
Mark Aitken is the company’s President and one of the primary architects and visionaries of the Next Gen TV ecosystem. He also serves as Vice President for Advanced Technology for Sinclair Broadcast Group, ONE Media’s parent company. Mr. Aitken joined Sinclair in 1999 and is responsible for representing the group’s interests in regulatory, technical and standards issues within industry-related organizations and before regulatory agencies both in the US and internationally.
Mr. Aitken has been involved in the broadcast industry’s migration to advanced services since 1987, from his participation in the FCC’s Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Services to his current involvement with the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC). Mr. Aitken was the primary architect in the formation of ONE Media, and a driver of key ATSC 3.0 breakthrough technologies. He is a member of the NAB TV Technology Committee which is focused on the broader technical issues facing the broadcast industry. Prior to his involvement with Sinclair, Mr. Aitken worked with COMARK Communications where he held several positions including Manager of the Systems Engineering, RF Engineering and Sales Engineering groups, as well as Director of Marketing and Sales Support which included digital television strategic planning responsibilities. While with COMARK, Mr. Aitken was part of the “Emmy Award Winning Team” that revolutionized the broadcast industry by bringing Inductive Output Tube (IOT) technology to the marketplace.
Mr. Aitken is the author of many papers dealing with innovative RF product developments, advanced digital broadcast systems design-implementation strategies, and holds patents for various RF devices and Next Gen systems. He is a recipient of the 2008 Broadcasting and Cable Technology Leadership Award, the 2013 recipient of the ATSC “Bernard Lechner Outstanding Contributor Award,” and the 2018 NAB Engineering Achievement Award for his leadership in advancing the adoption of the Next Gen standard.
Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Kevin Gage joined ONE Media as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Gage will play a key role in shaping ONE Media’s next generation broadcast platform. Until recently, Mr. Gage was Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). Gage was also founder and head of NAB Labs. Prior to that, Kevin worked for Warner Bros. Studios, where he helped develop the DVD specification and production facilities at the film studio. While at Warner Bros., Kevin helped launch The WB Network and was a founding member of the Advanced Television Enhancement Forum, a cross-industry initiative that developed standards for interactive TV. Kevin later became head technologist at Warner Music Group, where he oversaw creation of new digital platforms and standards for products that included iTunes. While at NBC Universal, Kevin was responsible for developing online TV strategies.
Kevin is the author of two patents on distributing multimedia programs. He previously was a member of the DVD Forum Technical Board and Steering Committee and served on the board of directors of the Recording Industry Association of America and the Mobile Entertainment Forum. Kevin is a 1984 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Science.
Executive Vice President for Strategic and Legal Affairs
Jerald Fritz is the company’s Executive Vice President for Strategic and Legal Affairs and plays a key role in shaping ONE Media’s next generation broadcast platform. Mr. Fritz came to ONE Media from Allbritton Communications Company where he was the long-time Senior Vice President for Legal and Strategic Affairs. Previously, he served as the Chief of Staff to FCC Chairman Mark Fowler and as a primary architect of deregulatory efforts in the broadcasting and telecommunications industries. Prior to joining the Chairman’s staff, Mr. Fritz was in private practice specializing in communications law and taught on the adjunct faculty at George Mason University Law School.
Mr. Fritz has lectured extensively and testified before Congress on communications law, policy and the future of the telecommunications industry, including distribution platforms. Mr. Fritz served as a Director on the NAB TV Board where he chaired the NAB-X.com Task Force for a virtual trade show and served on the NAB’s Digital Television Task Force as well as its EEO, Web Streaming and Copyright Committees. He is a past Governor of the ABC Affiliates Association chairing its Government Relations Committee and leading its NewsOne revision team. He is also a former American Bar Association Communications Law Forum Governing Committee member and a past Forum Division Chair.
